The Teacher Training Agency has appointed Square One to produce a magazine to attract teachers back into the classroom.

The 20-page magazine, Return To Teaching is aimed at trained teachers who have taken a career break, but are now thinking of returning to the profession.

The termly publication is distributed to a database of 20,000 former teachers and will form a key element of the Teacher Training Agency's 'Returning to Teach' programme. It keeps readers up to date with changes in the teaching profession and provides useful contacts and information about returners courses. A wide range of topics relating to the profession are addressed each issue, from teaching skills to job hunting. Strands include news, training, articles focusing on subject specialism, features on the broad issues such as pensions and regular interviews with returning teachers.

Acting Director of Teacher Supply and Recruitment at the Teacher Training Agency, Mike Watkins said: "The programme gives teachers the opportunity to refresh their skills to ensure a confident return to the classroom. Return To Teaching magazine is a great way of providing comprehensive information and advice on changes in education and how teachers can manage their return to the classroom."

Square One Director Simon Chappell added: "The magazine will be given a contemporary, professional makeover. Its writing, design and structure will seek to appeal to its mature and intelligent leadership in a highly effective way. It will have a distinct focus and sense of purpose with a call to action for readers to enrol on returners courses."
