Square One Publishing, the UK’s fastest growing larger publishing agency, has been awarded a two-year contract to produce The Sharp End, a cutting-edge monthly magazine for frontline police officers published on behalf of The Home Office. The tender was handled by the COI using its recently-formed publishing agency roster. The Sharp End was launched in January following extensive research that showed a consumer-magazine style publication was the best format through which the government could help set and communicate the agenda for the modern police service. The magazine is made up of serious, hard-hitting features tackling key subject areas of police reform, mixed with lighter features looking at the police community in all its facets. The magazine is aimed at frontline police staff in its broadest definition – including all frontline officers, Specials, and civilian staff. Sean King, Director of Square One Publishing, said: “Having been involved with The Sharp End’s initial development we are delighted that we have been awarded the contract to continue publishing the magazine for the next two years. It is unquestionably one of the most challenging Government publications to date bringing together first class journalism and innovative design to engage with a renowned hard-to-reach audience.” The thirty-six page magazine,
which has a circulation of 65,000 copies, is edited by former Rare Publishing Editorial Director
Steve McGrath. |
