LighterLife, the controlled weight loss programme for those with three or more stone to lose, has had its upmarket, glossy magazine of the same name relaunched by Square One Group.

LighterLife magazine differs from other slimming mags by looking at the causes of obesity and not just the symptoms. It encourages people to look at why they feel the need to overeat.

The LighterLife programme, tailor-made, developed by experts and delivered by trained counsellors, assists controlled weight loss whilst promoting a greater understanding of food issues.

A LighterLife spokesperson said: "The magazine is an important element of the programme as it acts as an inspiration and a reminder that a better life can be achieved. It is neither intimidating, nor out of reach and focuses on real-life success stories."

The magazine has been produced in-house since it first launched in 2001. It is mailed directly to programme participants, while new clients are targeted by distributing the magazine through local counsellors across the country.

The 100-page, perfect bound magazine is published three times a year. Under Square One's guidance, the plan is to increase frequency to quarterly in 2005 and bi-monthly in 2006.

Square One Director, Simon Chappell, said: "Obesity levels are reaching epidemic proportions, which makes the work LighterLife does all the more important. The magazine is the perfect way to support the programme. It also acts as a powerful retention tool for those who have successfully completed the programme."

Although the magazine focuses on weight loss, it is also an engaging magazine that incorporates other aspects such as travel, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, career and personal interests.
