Sean King, commercial director of Square One Group, has been elected as the next Chairman of the Association of Publishing Agencies. King will instantly become deputy chair and will stand up to replace Jason Frost in June 2007 as his reign comes to an end.

After graduating from Warwick University in 1986 with a BA Hons in Psychology, Sean spent his early career working as an editor and journalist in the fashion and entertainment world. He co-founded Square One in 1994 where, as commercial director, he led the company to achieve a £7.5m turnover, publishing some of the UK’s most innovative customer magazines for an enviable list of blue-chip clients.

Square One joined APA in 2000 and since that time Sean has been an active member at council meetings as well as chairing the events committee for the past 2 years.

Kings says: "I'm really honoured to have been elected as chairman of the APA at what is really an exciting time for the industry. The number of new magazine launches is proof that more and more companies and brands are embracing the medium to deliver tangible business benefits and return on investment, backed up by robust industry research.

"And while customer magazines will continue to thrive, the internet also opens up enormous opportunities for APA members to deliver branded digital content and I'm looking forward to being at the heart of the drive to make sure we as publishers take centre stage."
